Colitis Tip #1 - Digestion & Absorption Dont focus on quantity of food to bring in the calories because you feel you are losing too much... Focus on the right foods, calming the inflammation down and HEALING your gut, rather than overloading it in a desperate attempt to get back what youve lost. That my friends, is a vicious circle...trust me. I used to drink fresh beetroot juice daily, have spinach smoothies, and eat all the iron rich foods I could - yet my blood tests showed that I was anaemic?! What I didnt realise back then was that our gut linings are impaired... the little villi that line our bowels are damaged and unable to properly absorb nutrients from the food we eat (Coeliacs will know exactly what Im talking about here). The picture of the broken comb can be likened to our damaged villi. Stick to mono meals of apples, bananas, dates, and chicken, turkey, fish with carrots / sweet potatoes in order not to overtax your digestive system, and supplement with Aloe Vera to repair and soothe your damaged gut lining.
