Collective Switching is coming to Buckinghamshire! What is Collective Switching? Buckinghamshire County Council has joined a growing network of Local Authorities who are working with a small company, iChoosr to offer residents the chance of collectively changing their energy supplier. Collective switching is successful due to the large numbers of households who register their interest online. The energy suppliers (Big 6 plus the smaller suppliers) are invited to enter a reverse auction to bid in a competitive way to secure the household energy contracts. This is good news for the householders as it means most will be offered a cheaper quote. The energy suppliers will provide 12 month fixed term quotes and each quote will show what the saving will be if annual energy consumption remains the same. In a nutshell – the benefits: Up to 9 out of 10 people will receive a cheaper quote for their energy The average saving from the October 2014 auction was £220 Registering online is easy buckscc.gov.uk/switchedon Once you’ve registered, you will receive regular updates and reminders to help you keep track. The auction will take place on 3 February 2015 and as soon as the energy supplier has been agreed, you will receive a personal quote from them. It is up to you whether or not you switch. 28% of registrants switched in the October auction. If you do switch, the energy company will do all the work for you. Can anyone register? Please encourage as many people as possible to register for the scheme because the more people who sign up, the better the savings could be. Get people to tell their families, friends and colleagues to sign up too. You don’t have to live in Buckinghamshire to register. If you have any queries in the meantime please email [email protected]
