Collectively, teachers are potentially the single most influential body of individuals in America. Our collective efforts presents challenges and demands on the minds of our youth. The goal is to do this in such a way that their minds develop a strong sense of autonomy and ability to apply reason and compassion to navigate complex problems to a favorable outcome. The current narrative claims that the only (or best) vehicle to apply these life skills is in college or career. I say they think too small. Imagine the degree to which Bach, Da Vinci, Einstein, and countless others have had the freedom to master their passions and navigate incredibly complex problems and compositions. We teachers, the potentially single most influential body of individuals in America know, with every fiber in our collective beings, that genius is organic and that the consequences of the Federal takeover of education is a complete eradication through systematic atrophy of any spark of genius that all children possess.
