Colleen Mc Donald Five years ago a location at Vets. was identified for a 7000sq.ft. skate park. The location is in the corner of the park across from Jackie Robinson. East of the community center. The alternative site was the current location of McBride Skate Park(9800sq.ft). McBride was funded from the Teen Center project. The bids came in under budget. The funds were restricted to McBride. The McBride Skate Park cost $750,000.00. A 7000 sq.ft. skate park at Vets would cost approx. $500,000. (approx. $85 per sq.ft.) ASK Foundation raises money for our efforts with youth. As an FYI to your group ASK just filmed a one hour documentary with Tony Hawk, Chief Jim McDonnell and our kids on the benefits of skate parks to at risk youth. It will air worldwide on CCTV-Full Frame Aug. 9th and nationwide on KCET-TV!
