College Leaders Leave White House Summit Inspired to Act President Obama and more than 100 college administrators, business leaders, and foundation and nonprofit executives spent a day discussing strategies to get more low-income students admitted to, remaining in, and graduating from college. The invitation only event that required an up-front commitment from the college or university to expand access. National Economic Council executive director, Gene Sperling, indicated there would be a follow-up summit in a year that could possibly include more elected officials and business leaders.
