Colonel B.T. Kachim Inspects Aduwan Gida Clinic Renovation Zango-Kataf, Kaduna State, Nigeria – 17 September 2014 – Colonel Boman T. (B.T.) Kachim (Rtd), Founding Partner and Chairman of Anjeed Kafanchan Solar Limited and Kunak Foundation Chairman, visited the Aduwan Gida Rural Clinic to inspect the renovation project and was impressed by all that has been accomplished. The Kunak Foundation-sponsored renovation of the Aduwan Gida Rural Clinic commenced 17 July 2014. While the project was expected to be completed in three weeks, it was discovered that there were significant problems besides the unsanitary conditions created by the leaky roof and damaged masonry. A lack of proper drainage along the community’s main road and around the clinic caused ongoing erosion that compromised the building’s foundation. Colonel Kachim is pleased that the Kunak Foundation and Anjeed Innova Group’s teams were able to successfully work together with community leaders to see resolution of the drainage issue through a repaired drainage system for the village’s main road that leads to the clinic and installation of a specially-designed drainage system around the clinic. Renovating the clinic accomplishes little if the foundation is destroyed. Another unexpected problem was the filth uncovered by removal of the roof. The debris consisted largely of bat dung, a further health threat. According to the World Health Organization, fruit bats are the natural host of the Ebola virus. Despite unforeseen issues with the building and setbacks caused by bad weather, material not arriving when expected, and the family and farming responsibilities of the community volunteers, work progresses. Anjeed Field Team Manager Emmanuel Waje is commended for his leadership and logistical management skills. Community volunteers must first fulfill their obligations to provide for their families by planting and harvesting as the season dictates. In the fifth chapter of the Apostle Paul’s first epistle to Timothy Paul states that not caring for your family is to deny your faith. Colonel Kachim affirms that the Anjeed Innova Group and Kunak Foundation refuse to impede workers from proper care of their families, and therefore allow the natural rhythm of farming dictate the work schedule as necessary. He previously halted work to allow the community time to mourn the loss of one of their own. In the execution of all projects, Anjeed and Kunak are committed to the good of the people and the community, for this generation and those to follow. In harmony with United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), projects improve people’s lives and benefit the environment. As the majority of the patients treated by the Aduwan Gida Rural Clinic are women and children, this renovation project will promote gender equality and empower women (MDG 3), reduce child mortality (MDG 4) and improve maternal health (MDG 5) while combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
