Colonel Sultan Amir Tarar a.k.a. Colonel Imam Shaheed. Former ISI officer, special warfare ops specialist and Ustaad (teacher) of Mullah Umer and the Afghan Mujahideen. Martyred on January 23, 2010. Colonel Sultan Amir Tarar, best known as Colonel Imam Shaheed, was a retired Pakistan Army officer and special warfare operation specialist. A former member of the Special Service Group (SSG), he is now-inactive ISI Intelligence officer and have served as former Pakistani Consul General at Herat, Afghanistan. A veteran of Soviet war in Afghanistan, he is widely believed to have played a key role in the formation of the Taliban, after having helped train the Afghan Mujahidin on behalf of the United States in the 1980s. Colonel Imam Shaheed, who was a commando-Guerrilla warfare specialist, had trained Mullah Omar and other Taliban factions. Colonel Imam remained active in Afghanistans civil war until 2001 U. S. led War on Terrorism, and supported the Taliban publicly through media. He was kidnapped along with fellow ISI officer Khalid Khawaja, British journalist Asad Qureshi and Qureshis driver Rustam Khan on March 26, 2010. Khawaja was martyred a month later. Qureshi and Khan were released in September 2010. Imam was martyred in January 2011. Salute You Salute Afuwaj e Pakistan Al-Fateha !
