Colorado Day 7 - 2014 USA Shooting - National Governing Body for Olympic Shooting Sports National Junior Olympic Championships. The day Jordan Hintz has been waiting months for. He put together several decent rounds but never did hit the break-through big scores. Ended qualifications at 127 of 150 which put him in 5th place. (Top six shooters make the Match Finals.) The typical Colorado afternoon storms blew up and the competitors faced a 30-40 face wind and drizzle in the semi-final round. Jordan started hot hitting the first 4 pair and took an early lead before Jessie Haynes-Lewis made a strong run to tie Jordan at 25 and those two moved into the gold medal match. Before the medal matches we had rain and a 20-minute lightning delay, but once the wind died-down Jordan finally put together the big score I had expected earlier posting a perfect 30 in the gold medal match to earn 5 bonus points towards the National Championship giving him a total score of 132 for the event which put him in fourth place. (Yes, Im scratching my head as to why ISSF rules were not followed for the match results and how the winner of the gold medal match does not receive any medal, nor named National Champion but that is beyond my control.) Anyway, Jordan was awarded a spot on the USAS Junior Olympic Squad for the third straight year which is a tremendous accomplishment. Krista Hintz and I are very proud of him! Special thanks to our fellow Kolar Arms friends Erik Waldrop and Cheyenne Waldrop for the pep-talk they gave to Jordan before the fifth round to get him focused again. Also a big shout out to fellow Wisconsinite Tyler Theide of the Sauk County Youth Shooting Team who won the silver medal for the J2 age category! Heading back home in the am to see my girls and rest up for the Scholastic Clay Target Program International Championships (less than two-weeks away.) See you tomorrow Ceci and Libby!
