Colossians 3:20-21 Avoid Aggravating Your Children. While discipline is necessary in the lives of children, it is equally necessary that discipline be tempered with love. This means that parents should not scold or nag their children, especially when disciplining them. Other words that have been used for scold and nag are exasperate and aggravate. The word aggravate means to irritate, enrage, harass, tease, and add fuel to the fire. When discipline is administered in a aggravating manner, the consequences can be devastating. Children may not only be angry with their parents and resent them, but children may also disrespect and dishonor their parents. Even worse, they may one day end their relationship with their parents or act out violently against them. If you really want your children to honor you as a parent, then you must discipline them with love, praise them when they obey, and train them in the instruction of the Lord. amen. To God be the Glory.
