Combined soft drinks consumption of >6 servings/week was positively associated with Hepatocellular Carcinoma risk. For years I have been a Diet Coke drinker...for years, I have known that it wasnt the best thing for me to drink, but I did it anyway for the caffeine and no calories. Now that I have had a child with liver cancer and have been through the cancer treatment process...I wish that I could take back every single diet coke Ive ever had just because it MIGHT have prevented it. Of course, we dont know 100% that this is what caused Coles cancer, but I dont know why I wanted to drink something that could potentially cause cancer period. Its the addicting part and me thinking it wont happen to me, that got me I guess. Well...Im sharing this information with you because I am doing my best to retire my diet coke habit, so if you see me with a Diet Coke feel free to scold me a little! I havent turned into some health freak (even though I should), but I can take one baby step at a time. Im not trying to force my health opinions on you, but a little education goes a long way. If you too are a Diet Coke addict like I, you just might want to do some research. I am proof that cancer CAN happen to you!
