In this one-man play — as seen through the eyes of Ko‘olau (portrayed by actor Moronai Kanekoa) — a courageous story unfolds about a Hawaiian family on Kauai fighting for their rights amidst the chaos and loss of Hawaiian sovereignty in 1893. Ko‘olau fought a rebel militia that had overthrown the Hawaiian monarchy and wanted to enforce leprosy laws that would force him and his son to the leper settlement at Kalaupapa known as “the Living Grave.” It is a tale of love and survival against all odds. Hawaii Theatre and the Honolulu Council of the Navy League present 29TH ANNUAL COMBINED MILITARY BAND APPRECIATION CONCERT May 17 Saturday 6:00 PM FREE The combined band features outstanding service members from each branch of the military, with respective conductors taking up the baton in a selection of patriotic songs. The United States Air Force is the military lead band and will be conducted by Capt. Haley Armstrong, U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific. This special concert will feature performances by the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet Band, the U.S. Marine Forces Pacific Band, the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division Band and members from The Army National Guard 11th Army Band. Tickets are available at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office, local MWR centers and the Honolulu Council of the Navy League. There is a four (4) ticket limit per person. Admission is based on availability of seats and admission is not guaranteed.
