Coming club events Thanks to Bob. August: 4th – Club run to Fort Lytton. On this Sunday they fire the big gun. Meet at McDonalds Cannon Hill (1006 Wynnum Rd) say 9 to 9:30 am for 9:45 departure. Entry to Fort Lytton is free, guided tours by donation and there will be “live firing” of the cannons throughout the day. Tea, coffee & soft drinks are available but it is highly recommended to bring your own food. Andrew is again our Road Boss, contact him if you are going – 0403540471 or andrew_evans@y7mail or Facebook. google.au/search?q=fort+lytton+cannon+firing&sa=X&rlz=1C2EODB_enAU532AU532&biw=1920&bih=979&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=0ZvvUdzAAZCdkgXv9IGgBA&ved=0CHQQsAQ Two events have been added to the calendar, but are not club runs; The 42nd All Parts Swap Meet, 11th August at Rocklea Showgrounds. And The Pacific Ford Total Performance Motor Show at Pacific Ford (Sugar Road Maroochydore). Dan Bowden will have some of their cars there, plus a range of FPV vehicles. This is also on 11th. 18th – Just Rock Ipswich “Back to 63”, this is a good show with a range of classics & hot rods and a live Rock & Roll band. We need to get our spot before the “cruise” arrives, so we meet at McDonalds Goodna at 8:00 am for a 8:15 (sharp) departure (so if you want breakfast get there earlier). John’s looking after this one, let him know if you’ll be there (0427 022167). $10 entry fee. September: There was some interest at the meeting of going to Toowoomba for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers “Carnival Classic Cars Show & Shine”. It’s a $10 registration (going to charity) held in Queens Park Saturday 21st September. I was felt it might be something the “girls” might like but it’s the day before All British Day. We have another club meeting before this, so we need your feedback before then and of course a “Road Boss” (I think I’m away). Let me know or come to the next meeting. 22nd – All British Day is on again at Tennyson, more details next month but we’ll meet as usual at McDonalds (gee we like those McMuffins) Annerley 7:30am for a 8:00 departure. Paul will be looking after this one. Other dates (some other events to ensure you have on your calendar); 5th October (Saturday), Archer Fall Fly & Drive in. A small airfield and display of aircraft & cars (see Andrew for more details) 6th October, All Ford Day Kedron 20th October, Kilcoy Classics on Wheels (part of the Wood, Wine & Food festival), 2 meeting points this year Fernvale & Samford (joining together on the Somerset Dam Rd) 25 – 27 October, Small Ford Muster in Canberra. Lewis is going and looking to put together a group of interested members. For more information etc, contact Lewis 0419 741363 (sounds like a good few days). 17th November, Christmas Run (Paul is working on something interesting) 15th December, Smith Family Distribution (we play Santa!) 26th January, Aussie World Australia Day Event (let’s hope it’s fine this year) As you see there’s plenty of opportunity get those cars out. We are always looking for new ideas for runs and of course “Road Bosses” to organise the day. Generally there’s not much to do and you’ll get plenty of help. However if you’re coming on a run let the Road Boss know, also if for some reason you can’t make it have the courtesy to let him/her know (or even if you’re running late.) Bob
