Mitacs Globalink offers competitive 10-12 week research internships in Canada for top students who are currently in their 3rd year of a 4-year undergraduate degree, or 4th year of a 5-year combined Masters (dual degree) program. Students interested in applying should: • Be preparing for their final year of undergraduate study – that means they should have completed the 3rd year of a four year program, or the 4th year of a five year program at an university in Brazil, India, China, Mexico, Turkey and Vietnam. • Have an 8/10 or 4/5 GPA, or above • Be eligible to obtain a visa for travel to Canada, and be able to stay for 12 weeks • Be able to demonstrate a high-level proficiency in spoken and written English How are students selected? Is it purely based on grades or are other factors considered? Grades definitely play a major part in the selection process. However, your research statement and letters from your professors are also crucial and you should take these seriously. In the past, students with higher grades have been passed over because they did not meet the other selection criteria. Location: Various host universities in Canada. Over 25 Canadian universities will host students for Globalink 2014. Duration: 10-12 weeks (between May and September) Stipend: $200/week. The cost of airfare up to $1500 and visa expenses up to $165 are refunded when the students reaches Canada. Mitacs also books and pays for the intern’s accommodation.
