Coming to #ICFF this Saturday: the Infinite Chair designed by Jenny Trieu from the University of Houston. Trieu won a student design contest held by Wilsonart, a veteran manufacturer in the MCX library. Though it looks like it may have been milled from a single piece of wood and then laquered, the chair is really a hollow form built with Wilsonarts laminate which is essentially a combination of specialty paper with melamine resin that is heated and pressed together with a sheet of structural kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin. This material outperforms traditional laminates in wear resistance and scratch resistance, and contains one of the highest percentages of post-consumer content (20%) in the industry making it a good medium for lightweight furniture designs with complex curvatures. businesswire/news/home/20140512005061/en/%E2%80%9CInfinite%E2%80%9D-Wins-10th-Annual-Wilsonart-Chair-Design#.U3IbrGRDvZU Congratulations Jenny and we look forward to seeing you at the show!
