Coming up tonight on Life of Lies At the hospital Oriana breaks down and confesses the real story to Padre Mariano. She was looking for shelter from her deceitful and criminal hubby and the misguided long arm of the Colombian law; not to mention that she only meant to bring a bit of happiness into the old lady’s lonely life. He advises her against telling the truth to Paloma for fear the emotional shock. While Padre is chatting with New-Ines, Cesar and Raquel show up in the waiting area to check on things. Ricardo sees another opportunity to snooker information about New Ines’s past and any possible link to his dead daddy’s murder. He immediately starts giving Raquel the third degree. Raquel’s way ahead of him here. Nope, she’s got no idea what Padre and Ines discussed that morning that supposedly set her off since they’re really not friends as such; and nope, she’s not aware of any long distance phone calls to her hotel—except once he mentions that he paid the last phone bill for Ines the time she was calling about some little cheap stuff she left in the room and a hairbrush which they’d given to Santos for the DNA test. “—it turned out positive, didn’t it?” Yeah it was positive, he replies, So then what’s your problem, asks Raquel with another sparkling crocodile smile of hers. Raquel finds a corner in another part of the hospital to place a call to Lucina. She tells her she suspects that Oriana spilled the beans to the padre. Lucina does a quick mental tally and goes for the little pistol that Lucina was holding when Oriana found Gabe doing the dead-man’s float in their pool. Should the good padre decide to accuse Oriana of murder, this will be the ultimate top up their sleeve. In the meantime, she’s going to close the sale on the hotel that day and will be on her way to Hermosillo ASAP. Tito and Lina are passed out on Paloma’s bed. She takes a call from Santos and learns that New- Ines has never been registered in any of the colleges around there in Monterrey. Paloma thanks him and settles out her account with him. In the hospital lounge once more, Ricardo questions Mariano about whether Ines gave a reason for being out so late at night. No, says Mariano and he leave. New-Ines’s white knight is still sitting in the lounge with them. He tells them that since Oriana’s doing fine now that he’s going to call it a night. He then asks for permission to come visit her later on. Raquel jumps in with a big yes indeed. The guy says thanks and heads off. Ricardo looks at her like who the hell asked you? She quickly declares that if the guy hadn’t saved Ines who knows what could have happened, right? Ricardo, disgusted, leaves to give a quick call to Paloma to update her.
