Commandments to yet Unborn Palestinian Generation by Dr. Mohammad S. Dajani Daoudi Jerusalem, 19 March 2014 1- Worship God and not individuals or money. Do not adopt sayings by the Prophet that would contradict the Holy Quran. 2- Study and labor without expectation of a reward because labor is worship and learning brings you closer to God. 3- Give women their human rights, and invalidate all laws that abuse women rights particularly ones that give lighter sentences to the so-called honor crimes. 4- The Palestinian Flag: Add the Quranic verse, We Have Made You a Moderate Nation on the Green color. For the Green is the color of tolerance, reconciliation, prosperity, progress and the fertile soil. Add the Scale of Justice on the white color since it is the symbol of Peace, Justice, Nobility, and purity of forgiveness. Remove from the Palestinian flag the red and the black colors because the black is the symbol of revenge and hate and the red is the symbol of spilled blood and conflict both adopted from the Arab Age of Ignorance that was reflected in the poem written by the 13th-century Arab poet Safi a-Din al-Hili: White are our deeds, Black are our battles, Green are our fields, Red are our swords. Keep the white and the green, why have blood and mourning on your national flag? 5- The National Anthem Return to the original Palestinian anthem - Mawtini My Homeland- written by Ibrahim Touqan back in 1936 and drop the present anthem plagiarized from the Egyptian national anthem and adopted by the PA in 1996 to reflect the themes of the revolutionary era. Adopt one that would reflect the new themes of the future independent democratic State of Palestine. 6- The Symbol of the Palestinian Nation Adopt the Olive Tree as the symbol of our new nation because it is a blessed tree in the Holy Quran that is deeply rooted in Palestinian culture, religion, traditions and history. 7- Education: Teach your children to love, have mercy, practice tolerance, acceptance of other, to be generous, to use soft dialogue rather than boycotts, and to treat others as what they want others to treat them. Revise the Palestinian curriculum to reflect the values of Islam of peace education deleting all that teach incitement, revenge, radicalism, or clash of civilizations. May God guide you to the Right Path.
