Comment: Last year at this time (Summer 2013), our 17 year old son Jesse was a leader playing safety for his football team, working on his plumbing apprenticeship, enjoying his passion of working with horses at a local summer camp and job-shadowing with a high level farrier, and looking forward to his graduation year of high school. On October 1, Jesse was diagnosed with a brain tumour and life changed in an instant. That same month Jesse had 3 brain surgeries, 2 strokes, and almost died from spinal meningitis - contracted during one of the surgeries. He spent 3 months in the hospital and went from 165 pounds down to 119. The night he got meningitis we almost lost him. What Jesse lost that day was most of the function in his lower body, due to nerve damage. What he didnt lose was his determination and will to overcome. Jesse is a fighter. Since November he has had to battle through chemotherapy, learning how to walk again from meningitis, battling to recovery memory loss from the strokes, and dealing with double vision. He has worked extremely hard through slow progress in his physiotherapy, endured a 10 hour brain surgery to remove the tumour on May 30 only to discover that the cancer had literally morpohed into a different type - a more aggressive cancer that apparently has a high return rate. As we speak, Jesse is just over half way through an aggressive radiation treatment. Its been 10 months, and Jesse fights on. He has an incredibly strong faith in God, and his will to overcome and live is unfathomable. He is a young outdoorsman who has a heart of gold. His life has impacted so many people along the way. A couple months ago, one of his friends went down to their family ranch in Montana and brought him back a hat with the words Say I Wont. Jesse wears this hat with pride because it sums up who he is. Jesses story isnt complete yet, but whatever the outcome we know he will finish strong. Jesse, we wish you a speedy recovery! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay strong and keep living the creed! #SAYiWONT
