Comment: This technique is useful against a street punk but not a skillful attacker in grappling. It would be more difficult to escape with this technique if the attacker sinks in the rear naked choke. It would be good to learn the escape from back mount. Answer:In Pure Krav Maga, you do not fight with techniques. Pure Krav Maga Techniques taught are limited in number comparing to the other martial arts. They are used to demonstrate shifting of directions of forces of push and pull or speedy impact. You do not just simple overkill the options of shifting weight and manipulating limbs, but rather prioritize quick release if needed to facilitate reach to pressure points. Sometime you use both. You win a fight by knowing all the options and knowing how to prioritize. Your drills amount to mapping the opponent pressure points in your mind and getting comfortable knowing where they are and reaching them in motion from all directions and all possible angles of approach, understanding the constraint of reaction time, (who reach the target first,) knowing all the options, and choosing the best that fits that scenario. Since soft pressure points are there for you to reach in almost any grappling scenario, you need to ensure you have enough air to breath for the time you need to finish the reaction and attack that soft pressure point. If you review all in mixed martial arts knock out and submission competition you can clearly see that they are won with either a Knockout, or a painful blow to the liver, kidney or other sensitive areas which inflict sever distracting pain allowing to use submission chokes and arm or leg bars. The atemi is the winning cause, while the Jujitsu is part of the show! This kind of mental attitude reflecting the opinion above, is a problem that prevails in the world of martial arts students which many become instructors and keep that mental attitude in that stage as well. Thinking that if you go and learn techniques, practice them, with assumed scenarios and able to successfully apply them you have a good chance of succeeding to prevail in a fight. Perhaps at times your subconscious is able to resolve problems with all the information learned and stored in it through lifetime. The problem in Self Defense, is that thousands of opinions, training methods, and years of tested experience did not draw a concise, accurate and logical and generic conclusions. The little that was done, is hard to digest to those that are inexperienced in either action, thought, or both! If you read the book Krav Maga - Use Your Body as a Weapon, you are on the right track and half way there! https://youtube/watch?v=uo1MaYHTEXA
