Comment from Roberscribbler - We are looking at the potential for a monster El Nino that could well exceed 1998. Potential. But the possibility is there. Heat delivery to the Arctic is still very high at a time when it should be ramping down (winter to spring transition). Sea ice is still in striking distance of record lows. In my view, this will be a bad year. Europe and Russia could see a very severe heatwave and drought given the Jet/Nino pattern that is emerging. And I am not liking what’s happening to the world’s agriculture. The problem most people don’t really think about is this — this year will seem bad. But in a few years, conditions will be worse. A few years after that, conditions will be worse still. You just can’t adapt to ever-worsening conditions. Without mitigation, the story doesn’t ever have a happy ending
