Commissioner applauds NAWOJ over positive roles By BONIFACE WETKUM WOMEN journalists in Plateau State have been applauded for their role in positively projecting the image of the state. The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Barrister Olivia Dazyam stated this when officials of National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Plateau State chapter paid her a courtesy call at the ministry’s headquarter on Friday. According to her, the responsibility of telling the Plateau story to the outside world rest on all right thinking citizens of the society hence the need for women of the pen profession to join hands with government to reposition the state to enable it region it’s lost glory. She stated that the redemption administration of Governor Jonah Jang is determined to leave an enduring legacy to the upcoming generation stressing that everything possible would be done to ensure that partnership with all stakeholders is sustained. The commissioner commended the association for the cordial relationship and support rendered her while at the Ministry of Women Affairs stressing that such should be sustained. Barrister Dazyam assured NAWOJ of all the necessary support by the ministry to enable them achieve their set goals. Earlier, the state chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs. Jenifer Yarima assured the commissioner of the association’s harmonious and cordial relationship to enable her to continue to distinguish herself among her peers. Mrs. Yarima commended the commissioner for her passion for the improvement of the plight of women in the state saying that the association would do everything possible to support their vision and mission in life. The chairperson condemned in strong terms the uncivilized unprovoked and senseless attacks on innocent citizens of the state by gun men lamenting that victims of the operation were mostly children and women. Mrs. Yarima solicited for assistance from the ministry to enable it execute some of its lined up programmes.
