Common Core Assessments: The SECRET Weapon -Written and scored by businessmen -Inaccessible to teachers and parents -Controlled by just TWO testing (monopoly) consortia for the entire country -Unproven in any educational environment -Legislated and contracted in utter secrecy -An alleged effectiveness rating mechanism for teachers When people ask Whats wrong with Common Core? THIS is my answer. The assessments are not a measure of how well students achieve Common Core Standards. They are a weapon for financial interests to make tons of money while they train our children to work for them. There is not a shred of evidence that the CC assessments are aligned to the Standards. There is not a shred of evidence that the assessments are measuring what the teachers are teaching. Were using curriculum that were told aligns to the assessments and again NOT A SHRED OF EVIDENCE to substantiate the claim. What is evident? Parents and teachers voices are no longer welcome or even tolerated within the education system. Why would we allow the overhaul our entire education system to align to a test we cant see? And entirely exclude educators and parents from the process? We wouldnt. Thats why this bogus education overhaul was maneuvered via private trade organizations with ZERO public discourse. They knew it would never have been adopted except for the Race to the Top bait that was offered to the states. They knew the parents and teachers would see right through this scam if they told us what they were really doing. But now we know. The assessments are a mechanism for the business interests aligned and empowered by the government to control the education system. They told us they were Standards and assessments to measure our childrens progress. But they lied. They are a weapon to use against teachers whose costs impede their profits. Even more treacherous: Our children are being used and abused via the assessments for the sake of these financial and political interests. Their education is being corrupted for the sake of greed and power. We will not and must not surrender our children to this invisible empire. Our children are not human capital. They are precious and vulnerable and entitled to a genuine education. One whereby they can learn to truly think critically and challenge such outrageous power grabs as this scam called Common Core. Refuse the tests. And tell them why.
