This week: Whats in a Seed: we will explore a variety of seeds using our senses, we will go for a walk looking for seeds, and we will make our own seed packets to take home! You can still sign up for Preschool - pay for 8 or 16 sessions in advance. We create a punch card for you that we keep at the farm - if you miss a session, you can use it later in the year. Learn to Grow It: an Intro to Home Organic Vegetable Gardening with Jill Rubin March 29th, 10AM-12PM @ Common Ground Farm $20, $18 Friends of CGF For centuries, people have been growing kitchen gardens near their homes to provide easy access to fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Come learn how to plan, plant and maintain a vegetable garden of your very own. Topics covered will include where to locate your garden, what varieties are easiest for a beginner to grow, how to deal with pests, and where to get seeds and other supplies. Extensive workshop notes will be available to all attendees. At Farm Camp, children explore their relationship to food and to nature through hands-on experiments, movement, games, and art. Children will spend time in the garden, at the pond, in the field, in the barn, and along our nature trails. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how food is grown - from the soil, to the crops, to the animals. Through a variety of experiences, kids will develop an appreciation of the complexity of the natural environment within which we live. There will also be lots of time for tractor tag, sprinklers, and other fun games to keep cool under the summer sun!
