Common Sense Making: Birkdale has recently lost scores of residents who happily lived in caravans & relocatable homes that were (i assume) valued under $100k on Collingwood Road, since a change in business model meant they had to move on... These people paid their bills and lived meaningful, connected lives. We have ONE such mobile park left (in Thorneside). The residents are humble, happy, low-impact couples, families and individuals who adore living in this great part of the world. What is the future of life in our region unless we consider and plan for housing diversity within our cities? In reality, most assumptions and (therefore) conversations seem to focus on Developer-led Affordable Housing solutions that start at $300,000.00... Might be good for pump-priming the economy, but what happens to those who CANNOT afford such prices? What is the housing future for good hearted people who endure below average financial circumstances? We need a vision for this demographic in our cities futures. Without a plan, we indirectly enforce homelessness... What is the role of civic leaders in this conversation? yesmagazine.org/new-economy/tiny-house-villages-for-the-homeless-an-affordable-solution-catches-on
