Common Sense Thread- Drove to Washington DC yesterday with Nadine to see family. Saw the Monuments, Memorials, Metro and more. America has a GREAT history and GREAT opportunity. As I look at what friends and family members have been able accomplish in their lives. Only in America, comes to mind. Television, computers & entertainment media have move us from a word-centered culture to an image-centered culture. Lets not be like Wheel of Fortunes Vanna White, whose role on the game show was to look cute and say hello & good-bye. Vannatizing may work for a game show but is no way to develop the positive future of our families,communities and Country. Im about up to here with our image-centered culture invading the ranks of Leadership. When will we ever learn that the sacred things cannot be staged and remain sacred? Through my life I have seen businesses, families, individuals and athletic programs go through a wide ranging swing in profits/loss or success/failure and while unwitting circumstances can derail momentum ultimately everything rises and falls based on leadership! America is hostage right now to an overwhelming dose of bad philosophy, greed and apathy. Our focus is no longer 20/20 on the important values that lead to a Countrys welfare moving forward, rather the I has now dominated the we and our Leadership is too preoccupied with the image-battle they have lost the ability to effectively stay the course on what brings success. Henry David Thoreau brilliantly penned, I know of no more encouraging fact that the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor. WE NEED LEADERS WHO UNDERSTAND LEADERSHIP! Who believe in America! I have seen poor gain wealth, unprivileged gain open doors, minorities jump hurdles and those of us born on the wrong side of the tracks board the train. Can we do better?, absolutely, but it is not time for those of special interest to be the dominate force in further damaging the fabric of this great land! We are wise to remind ourselves that glitz and glamour are nasty flies in the ointment of undefiled truth. The lazy need to be told they are lazy, those you violate the oath of integrity in public service removed and yes businesses are accountable to be honest in their financial transactions including taxes. Build pride in our future, build pride in our heritage...honor our traditions. Saying the Pledge of Allegiance with purpose is a good thing. Having a President, Vice President & Congress that understand how to inspire the citizens of this great land is critical. #simplepath
