Communique - Appeal of Jockey G. Arena Communique Appeal of Jockey G. Arena – 02 october 2013 The Appellant (Jockey G. Arena) did not press with his grounds of appeal questioning the integrity of the Chairman of the Board of Racing Stewards, Mr Ian Paterson. The Appellant further stated that he was not making any allegation of actual bias against the Chairman of Racing Stewards. In the light of the stand taken by the Appellant and in order to render full transparency, the Mauritius Turf Club considered that there would be no impediment to a “de Novo” inquiry being held into the matter before a differently constituted board of Racing Stewards. Thereupon the Appellant stated that he would not press with his appeal. Whereupon the Board of Appeal invited the Appellant to withdraw his appeal with costs not to be refunded and to make a fresh application for an inquiry, to which the Mauritius Turf Club has no objection.
