Communities in Rumphi are living in fear following the murder of a businessman over the weekend. This comes amid public outcry on the security lapse, as the country continues to register increased cases of murder and armed robberies. Speaking to Capital fm, Rumphi police criminal investigations officer Hunder Moyo said the deceased identified as Mariata Mbale was attacked and hacked on the head when returning from Phwezi trading centre. Mbale, who hailed from Mandevu Village, went to the trading centre to sell tomatoes and onions on Friday. The 63 year old man was discovered hours later by his brother, and was pronounced dead at the district hospital due to loss of blood. The police say this is the second murder case reported in the area, after another incident in 2011 and the suspects are still at large.
