Community Announcements from Wadena-Deer Creek Schools: · Congratulations to Wadena-Deer Creek’s One-Act Play cast and crew for placing first at Subsections, Jan. 25. They will present another public performance of “Marie Antoinette” on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Admission is free. WDC advances to Section competition on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Pequot Lakes. Break a leg, WDC! · ECFE spring classes begin Jan. 31 at WDC Elementary School. These ECFE education classes provide families with children 5 years old and under with support and information about parenting and family life, as well as building healthy happy families. Class options include Monday evenings, Tuesday mornings or Friday mornings. To register, contact ECFE Coordinator, Leanne Ries, at 632-2364. (Classes conclude on April 25.) · No Open Gym at Wadena-Deer Creek Middle/High School on Sunday, Feb. 2 (due to the Super Bowl). The indoor track will be closed as well. WDC Community Education’s Sunday Open Gym will resume on Feb. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. Shoot hoops, walk the indoor track, get movin’! All free of charge! · “Fun & Friends” for children ages 2 to 5 to begin on Feb. 4. This ECFE class is a time for your child to have fun with new friends to play, have storytime and a snack, plus a chance to go outside if the weather permits. This class is for children only – no parents! Fun & Friends are Tuesday afternoons, starting Feb. 4, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at WDC Elementary School. Class ends on April 22. WDC Community Education will be holding its annual Prince and Princess Party on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at WDC Elementary Gym North. Open to boys and girls 10 and under. Each year, this special event for young princes and princesses is a royal festivity where boys and girls wear their finest attire and enjoy games, arts and crafts, story time, face painting, dancing, a snack and more!. Cost is $5. All youngsters must be escorted by a parent, guardian or grandparent to attend! Call Dana at 632-2323 for more information. · The WDC School Board voted to make up two of the three Snow Days at their regular board meeting, Jan. 21. School will be in session on Friday, March 7 and Friday, March 28. The Jan. 6th Snow Day called off by Gov. Dayton will not be made up. Please mark your calendars!
