Community Outreach Worker 2 Positions REF: LI CO 06/13 CATEGORY: HIV,AIDS,STIs and TB (HAST) LOCATION: Sweetwaters Site, Pietermaritzbur­g DATE PUBLISHED: 5 June 2013 DATE EXPIRES: 21 June 2013 The HIV/­ AIDS, STIs and TB (HAST) Programme is seeking to appoint suitably qualified persons to work within one of their research projects based at the Sweetwaters Site, Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidates will be appointed on a 13 month contract. Key Responsibilitie­s: ■Contribute in the planning and implementation processes related to community preparedness, entry and liaison activities of the study; ■Work directly in communities in implementing the community preparedness, entry and liaison activities of the study; ■Identify and work with key stakeholders and referral sources for the study and help to maintain links with these stakeholders and referral sources; ■Work with the Community Relations and Mobilisation Coordinator in setting up community working groups and community advisory boards for the study; ■Keep a diary of events related to community preparedness, entry and liaison activities of the study; ■Supervising community based volunteers and mobilisers; ■Conduct any other project activities that may be necessary for the effective and productive functioning of the team. Key Requirements: ■Grade 12; ■Fluency in isiZulu and English; ■At least 2 years relevant community work experience; ■Demonstrated computer literacy. ■Knowledge and experience in community work issues; ■Good interpersonal, facilitation and problem solving skills; ■Ability to actively contribute to team performance and work independently; Preference will be given to candidates with: ■A relevant qualification in community work; ■Valid, unendorsed driver’s license (Code EB). The successful candidates will be required to work a flexible 40-hour week. From time to time the incumbents may be required to work beyond these hours. The successful incumbent will be appointed on a 13 month contract depending on performance and the availability of donor funding.
