*Community Service Announcement* I know charities and not-for-profit groups genuinely appreciate any donation a person can make, even if it might be goods or items in lieu of money. And Im sure the people or animals that benefit from these donations appreciate it too. Charities and not-for-profits, however, are not glorified garbage tips or recyclers that can take any item, in any condition, just so you get your good feels out of it. A charity callout is not your cue to empty your cupboards of things that would be disposed of at Spring cleaning time. It takes more man-power to sort your shit than it might be worth. If donating items, I recommend: -the item is cleaned, professionally if necessary -the item is in reasonable condition -the item is needed, ie specifically asked for or of resale value if the charity has an op shop or similar If you want to help but cant do monetary donations and do not have clean, reasonable and needed items, its ok. Honestly. If you really want to contribute now find another way, such as volunteering your time (possibly to sort items) or share their story. Or wait until you are more financial and contribute then. #KindnessIsMagic #DonateUsefully
