Comparing 2Kings 8 with the 8th book Ruth: Mahlon (From חָלָה (H2470) meaning sick) a Chet word the 8th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet, a primitive root [compare חוּל (H2342), חָלָה (H2470), חָלַל (H2490)] to be or become weak, be or become sick, be or become diseased, be or become grieved, be or become sorry (Qal) to be weak, be sick (Piel) to be or become weak, feel weak to become sick, become ill (CLBL) to entreat, pray, beg (Niphal) to make oneself sick to be made sick to be tired (Pual) to be made weak, become weak (Hithpael) to make oneself sick (Hiphil) to make sore to make sick to show signs of sickness, become sick to grieve (Hophal) to be made sick to be wounded ------------------------------------------------------------------ To restore to life (חָיָה, a chet word of the 8th letter of the Hebrew Alphabet): to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live for ever, be quickened, be alive, be restored to life or health (Qal) to live to have life to continue in life, remain alive to sustain life, to live on or upon to live (prosperously) to revive, be quickened from sickness from discouragement from faintness from death (Piel) to preserve alive, let live to give life to quicken, revive, refresh to restore to life to cause to grow to restore to revive (Hiphil) to preserve alive, let live to quicken, revive to restore (to health) to revive to restore to life ------------------------------------------------------------------ Gehazi and Hazael have the same root word haza, a Chet word meaning to see: Gehazi (Apparently from גַּיְא (H1516) and חָזָה (H2372))= valley of vision the servant of Elisha Hazael (h2371 חֲזָאֵל Chazael from חָזָה (H2372) and אֵל (H410)) = one who sees God a king of Syria; sent by his master, Ben-hadad, to the prophet Elisha, to seek a remedy for Ben-hadads leprosy; apparently later killed Ben-hadad, assumed the throne, and soon became engaged in a war with the kings of Judah and Israel for the possession of the city of Ramoth-gilead Haza (h2372 from the name Hazael - חָזָה) to see, perceive, look, behold, prophesy, provide (Qal) to see, behold to see as a seer in the ecstatic state to see, perceive with the intelligence to see (by experience) to provide Comparing 2Kings 8 with the 8th prophetic book Amos: 2Kings 8 12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child. 28 And he (Ahaziah) went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramothgilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram. Amos 1 3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron: 4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. 5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Amos 7 1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the kings mowings. 4 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part. 2Kings 8 10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit The LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die. 13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Chodesh for lunar cycle and chadash for renewal or new share the same root word and both start with chet. So life starts with darkness in the womb and then light as the creation unfolded from darkness to light. this mirrors the cycle of the moons every month (chodesh). The hebrew month goes by the moon right? And its 30 days found in Amos the 30th book overall and falls in the 8th spoke in the biblewheel 2nd cycle, meaning 8th counting from Isaiah. Chadosh and chodesh are chet words. Amos 8:5 (KJV) Saying, When will the new (חֹדֶשׁ) moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? Naomi called herself Mara meaning bitter (h4751 מַר mar) because she lost her husband and sons in Ruth 2 and Amos 8:10 reminds us of a woman who lost her only son. And if you look at 2Kings 8 it mentions of a woman whose only son Elisha restored to life (life is a Chet word) who left to sojourn in the Philistines because of a famine. This reminds us of Ruth who sojourned to Moab because of a famine. So you see how the 8th book Ruth, the 8th prophetic book Amos and the 2Kings 8 are related to each other? Add to that 1Samuel 8 which uses the same phrase in its introduction as the one in Ruth and 1Samuel 30 which mentions the carrying away of Davids and his companions women as it was prophesied concerning Israel and Judah in Amos mentioned Hazael (Hazaels name is from the 8th letter Chet) in mentioned in 2Kings. So theyre all linked. 2Kings 8 1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years. 10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit The LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die. 13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
