Compassion Is Yours [Friday, August 22] by Brenda K. “Know that because You have pursued My ways and My Word, I have compassion upon you because of your sacrifice. I see every effort made and the many things you have laid down to follow me, and now My compassion shall feed you with blessing.” Prophetic Scripture: I have compassion on the multitude… (Mark 8:2). When Jesus fed the multitudes in Mark 8, He took careful notice of how sacrificially the people were following Him and coming to hear Him preach. They followed him for three full days to the point that they had run out of food. That is pretty impressive, since most of us believers can’t make it through much more than a one hour and thirty minute church service without our stomachs growling for that Sunday buffet line! Yet these people listened to God’s Word for three days. There were entire families present. To be honest, I don’t know how they did it, especially with small children in tow. Nevertheless, Jesus saw their sacrifice and made a powerful statement. He said, “I have compassion on the multitude because they have been with Me three days and don’t have any food.” He recognized their sacrifice and extended His compassion upon them. He saw that they laid down their own schedules to be with Him. Because of it, they received compassion from the Lord in return. Realize that the Lord sees every sacrificial effort you have made to follow Him and obey His Word. Even if people don’t see it, God does. You can feel good today knowing that God will extend compassion and “feed you” in your times of need, and He will always bless you in return. Prayer: Father, I know that You see every sacrifice I have made for You. I thank You that You have extended compassion to me in every situation of need, and I commit to give everything in my life to You. Amen.
