Compassion, justice and empowerment The aim of seek the lords gospel in action ministries is to challenge today’s men and women of good will in to a new learning and a new action in their service to the poor. The revolutionary concept about poverty finds its origin in the gospel and reaches its climax when Jesus proclaims ‘blessed are the poor in the spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’ (Mathew 5:3). In Jesus view, poverty is ground for beatitude and open to equality of empowerment. Of course, poverty in itself not a blessing neither does it contain the seed of any empowerment, but for God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). In fact, the aim of this ministry maintains that, it was God who catapulted poverty in to a potential venue for grace. It all happen for the mystery of the incarnation, with God’s discussion to become man, nay to be born “poor” .God becomes sax i.e. the kind of person that is closes to the body of the poor, its un intolerable language (john 6:60) for those who do not understand, but great opportunity and challenge for those who believe and are called to walk with the poor. The aim of seek the lords gospel in action stands at explaining why the poor are the sacrament of God. In fact, with the mystery of the incarnation, there occurs an indissoluble unity or consanguinity between God-Christ and the poor. Such identification lies not only in Jesus declaration that, what is done to the poor is done to him-taking the poor fictitiously as though they are his little brothers and sisters. The Jesus poor identification is not in the juridical or moral order. It is theological, meaning that, in the Christian mystery, God and the poor are intimately united that there is a sort of family relationship between them. In fact, Jesus use of family categories-“little brothers and sisters “-is not made casually. The aim of seek the lords gospel in action ministry is live among the poor as well as the direct contact and interaction with the poor and to make today’s men and women realize that the work of justice and compassion consists not only in alleviating the suffering associated with poverty and homelessness but also in empowering the marginalized . This approach believes in the project of God, implemented in the mystery of the incarnation, to “bless” the poor and to entrust them with the power to become “wounded healers” in their community This ministry is to recognize an attitude or “politics” that often presents itself as a blockage to true service to the poor in today’s society. It is the politics of “purity”, many people in homeless community live outside the rules, they are both broken inside and have broken away from conventional rules of family, society and church, etc. They are really marginalized and yet the incarnate God of Christian tradition looks for them and site at the table with them. He does this by stepping on unholy ground, by challenging the conventional politics of purity and consciously breaking the “Sabbath” to be on the side of the poor, this means to move beyond the conventional moral judgment of human behavior. To be able to see power in the dirty world of poverty. First we have to let go of any rigid politics of holiness and to be more open to the politics of justice and compassion. Seek the lords gospel in action challenges another traditional way of approaching poverty, i.e. charity. Often time’s homeless people tell us stories of brutal abuse and violence, and yet our tendency is to limit our assistance to the works of charity, forgetting that, what we really need to address are issues of justice. The difference is huge, private charity responds to the homeless, wounded and dead bodies of our society, but it does not of itself the reasons why they are such condition. Social justice instead tries to go up the river and change the reasons that create homeless wounded and dead bodies, hence the process of empowerment requires that, it is our relationship with the poor, we move beyond private charity and venture more courageously on to the ground of poverty. The aim of this project addresses those who are earnestly committed to the poor but need to understand the dynamics that may occur in the process. Christians who serve the poor go through four stages. The first stage is characterized by compassion or by sincere seeing, hearing and feeling the sufferings of the poor, the second opens ones’ mind to the gradual discovery that poverty is a structural problem and needs to be analyzed and challenged accordingly. The third stage is an invitation to come to the grips with humility i.e. with the realization that the poor must save themselves and need you and me to achieve their redemption. The fourth and last stage might sound quite surprising, it describe the crisis of disillusionment and disappointment with the poor. It is the discovery that many poor and the oppressed people do have faults, do commit sins do down or rather fail themselves and sometimes spoil their own cause. Do we have to resign at that? NO! Then how can we use the crisis of disillusionment and disappointment with the poor in appositive and constructive way? Then aim to offer an answer to this question, on the basis of the experience drawn from the “vision and mission” of seek the lords gospel in action. Accordingly, the experience of disillusionment provides those who are passionate about the poor not with the spirit of resignation but with the energy to remind the poor that recovery and redemption are in their hands. The crisis might present us with the risk to withdraw, but it also gives us the opportunity to awaken in the poor both their long hidden self esteem and their call to become “wounded healers” in their own community. This is sacred empowerment both for themselves and others OBJECTIVES 1. Living together with disable people, homeless people and helpless people. 2. Seek the lord’s gospel ministry /project was also founded as a result of vast sufferings that took place in northern Uganda, many people suffered during the war led by General Joseph Kony leading to massive destruction of lives, property and sufferings as many people were displaced, leading to homelessness and helplessness . Many children were left parentless since their parents were killed during the war, others taken as slaves and many children were trained forcefully to become rebels. The war leads to wide spread of poverty in the region as much property was hijacked and destroyed. There was high spread of epidemic diseases like HIV/AIDS because women and young girls were raped and others forced to be wives to the rebels. So the project is to support both orphans, people affected by war, the under privilege and victims of HIV/AIDS materially through guiding, counseling them, providing health and domestic care, education and creative skills that keep them busy .
