Compete vs. Complete and Competition vs. Competence: In my long - TopicsExpress

Compete vs. Complete and Competition vs. Competence: In my long (10 yrs now) struggle to launch- worldwide- my awesome Integrative Oral health care system, I keep being asked by caring colleagues and friends how do you think you can compete with the multibillion dollar Big Guys in oral hygiene (mostly 3 companies)? I simply answer that of course I cant compete, and I am NOT Competing with anyone or anything! People often confuse competition, competence and completion. Compete and Competence are both from the Latin: Com=TOGETHER and Petere=Strive for/seek to! So the meaning is to STRIVE TOWARDS SOMETHING TOGETHER- Not against each other! In my mind (& in my book 4D Leadership) I clearly state that there is no competition, only completion of a bigger circle of life that we each add to in our own ways as we develop higher awareness and Competence (effective ability/skill to perform a task or add value). The problems we are striving to solve are endemic, global and cross cultural- esp when it comes to health and oral-health to be even more specific here. So if a multibillion dollar (31 Billion p.a. in 2012 to be exact) industry of conventional oral/dental hygiene products has not yet resolved the global epidemics of tooth decay and gum disease (still the 2 most common infectious diseases of humankind globally for the last many decades!), then why cant I (or anyone else who sees another light) contend to add value to the world by making something different, safer, and in many users+ professionals experience, works extremely well. Its always a matter of choice and more choice, not to overtake or outdo, not to dissolve- but rather to evolve. Let us not compete, rather lets Create, Curate and Conjugate for better & better...
