Competition Entry #1 LORI MINUTOLI The day before my son Anthony passed away of a rare form of cancer, he was sitting on the couch watching tv in the lounge room. I saw him look to his right as though someone was talking to him and he nodded his head. He then turned to me and said, mum ,its time for me to go to my room now. Instantly I felt a rush of fear crawl up my body because I knew what he was telling me. I tried to convince him to stay on the couch and just watch tv. All of a sudden he began screaming, mum, you dont understand! I need to go to my room NOW!! I settled him in his bed and instantly called my husband at work and told him, its time, you need to come home now! Within hours Anthony was in a coma, (before he fell into a coma he was talking about the waters of the world and all sorts of things I didnt understand) We sat with him all night holding his hands, my husband holding one and myself holding the other. I didnt even leave that room for over 12 hours, not even to use the bathroom because I was scared he would leave while I was out of the room but I should have known better. Anthony passed away the next morning but not before I told him it was ok for him to go. Instantly he turned his head towards me and said something (but I couldnt hear what he said) and then took his last breath!!! He was 11 years, 1 month and 11 days old and passed at 11 oclock. I suppose the motto of my story is that I believe the soul knows. This is only one of my stories. Anthony has left me with many stories to be told in time. Thank you for allowing me to share.
