Comprehensive immigration reform has failed because the combination of the comprehensive nature of the bill and the collaborative process by which it was produced allowed too much influence to too many special interests and diluted the focus on the key real problems with immigration. We need some leaders who are brave enough to rethink this issue and start from scratch with a series of separate bills which focus solely on the most important individual issues relating to immigration.
