Concerning The Star Wars Trailer-----Long Post-----For those who know of my die hard original trilogy fandom and have been asking about my thoughts on Disneys run with the franchise, this is for you guys. As stated, Im a purist fan in that only the original three films in their original theatrical state and the surrounding material of that time count for me. Everything else; The Expanded Universe, The Prequels, The Special Editions, the 203 different versions, cartoons, tvs shows, etc are all tossed aside as new things for a new generation I do my best not to even think of. Ill go to my grave a hardcore Star Wars fan, but the material stops for me pre-1990. Its just too painful to keep up with what theyve done to it. That being said, I looked at the news of the new trilogy the same way I did with The Prequels. I want to go and see them like everyone else, they just wont count for me as a fan if that makes any sense. I wanted to be as fair and unbiased as possible giving Disney and Abrams a chance and having seen the trailer I seem to be in the minority (like always) in that I was horrifically disappointed. The new lightsaber brought an eye roll, but it wasnt surprising. The giggling CGI droid screams The Phantom Menace all over again. What hit me the worst was the Millennium Falcon. The CGI looked almost worse than their attempts to re-create Jabba the Hutt in 1997. In all, its put me in a spot where I still want to be optimistic and hope the trailer is just too short to make a rushed judgment, but Im concerned. As friends who have been asking have heard, the selling point for me is getting to see Mark, Harrison, and Carrie on screen together again. What Im curious of now is how the fanbase is going to react AFTER the ticket sales are in and the dust settles. After the hype is over. After hearing so many incredible things, Im seeing Prequels 2.0 and its got me nervous.
