Condoleezza Rices birth pangs of a new middle east has a new - TopicsExpress

Condoleezza Rices birth pangs of a new middle east has a new competitor for vilest, most pompous, insensitive, disgusting phrase ever uttered by a US Secretary of State. The Syrian town of Kobani is being bravely defended by the YPG (Peoples Defense Forces) and the YPJ (Kurdish Women Fighters). There are also a number of FSA (Free Syrian Army) fighters who have joined them. Obama has repeatedly said he doesnt want to send any ground troops into Syria, that he wants to find some moderate resistance fighters to support instead. Well, the FSA and the Kurds are it. The FSA and the Kurds had been fighting each other, but recently formed an alliance. These fighters, who would be the backbone of an indigenous, non-jihadi (aka moderate) army that is willing and able to fight both ISIS and the Assad regime, are in Kobani - which is about a mile from the Turkish-Syrian border - and theyre getting slaughtered. The reason why theyre getting slaughtered is because they are outgunned. And the reason they are outgunned is, largely, because ISIS has a bunch of heavy weaponry which they stole from Iraq (which was given to Iraq by the United States). For more than a week, ISIS rolled their stolen tanks and other heavy artillery across the Syrian dessert, heading towards Kobani. They were completely out in the open for days, and the US could have, but didnt attack them. Then they set themselves up outside the city and began to shell it to smithereens, and 180 thousand people fled the city, and many hundreds - possibly thousands - of civilians were killed. And still the United States could have, but didnt attack. And now ISIS fighters are in the streets of Kobani, going door to door, shooting anything that moves, and thousands of Kurds from across Turkey and Europe are on the other side of the border begging the soldiers there to let them cross into Syria to help defend Kobani. But NATO (and coalition) member Turkey has, obviously, decided they would prefer to live next door to ISIS than to share a border with a bunch of ecologically minded, Marxist-feminist Kurds. So they wont let any reinforcements in. And they wont let any supplies in. And the Kurds are running out of ammunition, and theyre running out of food. And now that ISIS has almost completely taken the city, the US has finally stepped up air attacks - which is obviously more for show than for anything else, because its too little, too late. (One more thing you everyone should know about the YPG/YPJ Kurds: It was these men and women, together with PKK Kurds from Turkey, who rescued the Yadzis who were stranded on Mt. Sinjar, in Iraq, at the beginning of August. You may remember: thousands of them were trapped, surrounded by ISIS fighters, and it was this pending catastrophe that was the pretext given by Obama to begin airstrikes. The airstrikes didnt save the Yadzis; it was the Kurds from Syria and Turkey. The YPG/YPJ and PKK Kurds crossed over into to Iraq and rescued the Yadzi. Now the YPG/YPJ is being slaughtered, and Turkey wont let the PKK into Syria to help them.) And now we get John Kerrys comment on the situation. Like witnessing a public execution, (or accidentally swallowing a piece of dog poo) - its something that is impossible to ever forget. As horrific as it is to watch in real time what’s happening in Kobani, Kerry said, YOU HAVE TO STEP BACK AND UNDERSTAND THE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE.
