Confidence is a good attribute to have and it is the mark of many - TopicsExpress

Confidence is a good attribute to have and it is the mark of many great leaders. Confidence though if left unchecked can easily lead into egotism. Egotism is basically a inflated sense of self importance which causes people to boast about ones self and take all the credit for their successes in life. If We honestly think about it there are very few things that We can take credit for in Our lives. The antidote is humility, when one can recognize that all of their attributes come from having a personal relationship with God. Are You smart? You can thank God for allowing Your brain to retain and process knowledge. Are You skilled in particular sports? You can thank God for good eye and hand coordination. Are You good looking? You can thank God for Your genetic code. Our role in life is to make the most of the gifts that God has bestowed upon Us, and each of Us has one or more particular gift given to Us from God. While We can and should take some pride in Our accomplishments in life, be sure that the lions share goes to God. To be humble is You and I giving credit to others who have contributed to Our successes in life. No one suceeds on their own whether it be in school, a career, a family or sports. Fellow students, coworkers, family members and team mates all play a very crucial role. to ignore this truth is to rob others of their due credit. To be humble is to also be comfortable outside of the lime light and not having the need to be the center of attention. Rather than Us focusing on fame and just on Ourselves, We need to work toward becoming a person of quiet confidence, one who is quick to put Our God given abilities to use and to be even quicker to acknowledge the contributions of others in Our lives.
