Congrats West Bladen Varsity Boys: Copied from Bladen Online West Bladen 9, Wallace-Rose Hill 0 Baseball Senior Liston Britt and sophmore Jeremy Hunt combined on a two-hit shutout Friday night for West Bladen as the Knights posted a 9-0 Four County Conference victory at Wallace-Rose Hill. Britt struck out eleven Bulldogs in his six innings on the mound that raised his pitching record to 2-1. Britt walked four and hit a batter. Hunt struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 seventh inning performance. Junior Trevor Lesane and senior catcher John Waldrop drew walks to begin the West Bladen second inning. Britt laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners, and Lesane dashed home when the throw got away at first base. Senior Parker Allen’s fielder’s choice plated Waldrop. Senior Kevin Rice smacked a single to rightfield that sent Allen to third base. After Rice stole second base, Michael Pastore’s ground-out brought home Parker Allen with the third run of the inning. Junior C. J. Singletary swatted a single to rightfield that drove in Rice and stretched the Knight lead to 4-0. Singletary darted all the way to third base when the single was misplayed by the outfielder, but was called out for missing the plate on a passed ball that ended the inning. The Knights tacked on a run in the fifth. Singletary beat out an infield hit, swiped second base and sprinted home when senior Clay Allen knocked him in with a single to centerfield. West Bladen capitalized on a couple of Bulldog mistakes to pad the lead with four more runs in the sixth. Waldrop poled a towering pop-up in the infield, but a miscommunication between a trio of Wallace infielders for a single. Parker Allen was hit by a pitch and a balk advanced both runners. Rice was intentionally walked to load the bases. Pastore beat out an infield hit that scored Waldrop, and senior Travis Bowen drilled a 3-run double into the leftfield corner that cleared the bases and stretched the Knight lead to 9-0. Singletary finished with 2 hits, a run scored and a run batted in. Bowen delivered the 3-run double, and Rice, Clay Allen, Pastore, and Waldrop added a hit each. Clay Allen, Parker Allen, and Pastore drove in a run each. Waldrop, Rice and Parker Allen scored twice each. Lesane, Pastore, and Singletary scored one run each for the Knights.
