Congratulations Amical Bê Oko! The Central African Republic association Amical Bê Oko, an SGP partner grantee, was one of the 26 organizations honored at the 2014 Equator Prize awards in September. Amical Bê Oko received the global Equator Prize for its efforts to rehabilitate the degraded banks along the Kpaya river with fruit trees. Amical Bê Oko was also honored with a Special Recognition Award for small-holder farming. SGP supported Amical Bê Oko for the planting of Raffia trees, whose fruit can be combined with bambara groundnuts to make protein-rich milk for children who were much affected by the local food security crisis. The raffia trees contributed also helped restore the banks of Kpaya River and its water cycle.
