Congratulations!! Dear Sophie Maria Tiger, The White House has selected you as a 2014 Tribal White House Tribal Nations Conference Youth Ambassador. We want to thank you for taking the initiative to create positive change in your community. Among the nominations we have received, yours stood out among the rest and it’s clear that your community is incredibly proud of what you have achieved. As a Youth Ambassador to the 2014 White House Tribal Nations Conference you are joining an inspiring group of youth from across Indian Country. As a White House Tribal Nations Conference Youth Ambassador, we are inviting you to Washington, DC from December 1st- 3rd to celebrate your achievements. Air travel and hotel accommodations for you and a chaperone will need to be coordinated and funded by your tribe. The White House will send you additional follow-up materials and information in the coming week, but we encourage Ambassadors to work with their tribal leadership to make travel and hotel arrangements as soon as possible. Recognition Events: During your trip to Washington, DC you will participate in the sixth annual White House Tribal Nations Conference held at the Capital Hilton hotel in Washington, DC where you will have the opportunity to hear from and voice your perspective to senior Obama Administration officials. We hope you will be excited to meet some influential people and learn more about some of the most important issues impacting American Indian and Alaska Native tribes across the country. Your agenda will include meetings with Obama Administration officials, attending the White House Tribal Nations Conference, leadership training opportunities, and some recreational activities. We will be hosting a series of strategy planning sessions with you in the lead-up to the Tribal Nations Conference in order to incorporate your input into the schedule of events in Washington, DC. Your involvement in these events will ensure that young Native leaders’ voices are heard at the highest levels of our federal government. This program will also promote your leadership development goals and connect you with resources moving forward. We hope these events will garner attention, shine a spotlight on inspiring stories, and promote youth-led efforts within Indian Country! Most importantly, this is an opportunity for you to be recognized for your exceptional service to your community. Next week the White House will follow up with more details about your trip and a draft agenda of events taking place December 1-3rd.
