Congratulations YCNC on your award! - YCNC take out NSW Disability Industry Innovation Award The NSW Disability Industry Innovation Awards are an initiative of the NSW Government in partnership with National Disability Services (NDS). The Awards formally recognise and reward excellence in innovation demonstrated by non-government, community based organisations or individuals working in the industry. Youth Connections North Coast staff and a tenant of the share house were last night recognised at the NSW Disability Industry Innovation Awards, winning the category of innovation in independent living. YCNC won an award for the category "Innovation in independent living". Youth Connections North Coast developed an innovative approach to breaking down some of the traditional barriers to housing by providing the opportunity to develop their independent living skills through a peer support style arrangement during their time in the house. One tenant has described her experience of the program as making her “much more independent and much happier”.
