Congratulations to 9th grader Sydney Bassett! On March 29, 2014, the Level 9 Alabama State USA Gymnastics Championships were held in Huntsville Alabama. Sydney Bassett led her team, from the Prattville YMCA, to a First place finish and went on to claim First Place State titles in the individual all-around competition, as well as first place on the Vault, and the Beam, and finished in 2nd place in the remaining 2 events, the Parallel Bars, and Floor Exercise. With Sydney’s performance here, she made the Alabama level 9 Optional team , which competed in the USA Regional 8 Championships on April 12, 2014, in Kennesaw Georgia. Sydney won 3rd place in the individual all-around competition, as well as 2nd on Vault, 3rd on the Balance Beam and 6th place on the Floor. Her finish at the Regional Championships has earned her a spot on the Level 9 Region 8, Eastern National Gymnastics team . This competition will take place May 1st thru 4th, in the 2014 USA Gymnastics Jr. Olympics Eastern Championships to be held in St. Petersburg Florida.
