Congratulations to Jeff Connor, winner of the QRMFN 2013 Backbone of the Bush Award. QRMFN’s President Hannelie Roux and Project Officer Jenny Goyen were joined by Wendy Gordon from Oakey for the presentation of this Award in Blackbutt on Tuesday morning 6 August. The Award was presented during the Official Opening Ceremony for the new Blackbutt Medical Centre. MPs Mr Bruce Scott and Dr Andrew Laming were present with the Mayor Mr Kratzmann and Deputy Mayor to officiate in the opening of the new medical centre facilities. Jeff and his wife Dr Daphene Connor moved to Blackbutt in 2006 and have demonstrated their commitment to this local community with the development of the new Blackbutt Medical Centre. Apart from being a driving force behind this development, Jeff was also acknowledged for his contribution to the numerous local community projects he is involved with. Hannelie presented the 2013 Backbone of the Bush Award with a letter of congratulations for the Governor General Quentin Bryce.
