Congratulations to Jeff Matson for American Legion Stoddard Post Firefighter of the year. Jeff has been a member of the Stoddard-Bergen Volunteer Fire Department since 1990. During this time, Jeff has served in Officer Positions as Engineer, Captain and Lieutenant. Jeff has served as the Treasure and Secretary for the department for over 15 years. But for the past 8 years Jeff has been pulling double duty. He is filling both responsibilities at the same time. Jeff has outstanding organizational skills, knowledge about Fire/EMS and memory about the department facts and figures. Jeff is departments walking, talking Wikipedia or World Book Encyclopedia. Jeff’s training is vast and detailed. His training includes State Certified - Fire Fighter III, Haz-Mat, Vehicle Extrication, Water & Ice Rescue, Rope Rescue and Wildland Fire Fighting, First Responder. Over the years Jeff has served on countless committees for the department for equipment and vehicle purchases along with chair and cochair positions for fundraiser events like the “Annual Labor Day Weekend”.
