Congratulations to The Netherlands Stunning Dutch comeback halts Argentina charge Argentina’s confidence has received a dent heading into their quarter-final meeting with hosts Tahiti after Netherlands hauled in a four-goal deficit to win on penalties. Argentina incredibly scored two goals inside the opening 12 seconds to put tournament debutants Netherlands on the back foot from the start. The South American champions doubled their lead before the end of the first period as the Dutch faced a rout. Netherlands captain Patrick Ax clipped the crossbar with a header in a rare goalscoring opportunity for the Orange men. Suddenly the Dutch built some momentum with, firstly a goal direct from goalkeeper Frank Van der Geest, and then a superb strike from Ax. Argentina’s Vivas bagged his hat-trick in last minute of the second period to make the score 5-2 going into the final period. In the final period Edwin Van Rooijen reduced the margin to two as the Netherlands fought hard, Ax bagged his second for the Netherlands only for the same player to see his penalty well saved by Cesar Mendoza. But there was to be more late drama as Charlie van den Ouweland scored with three seconds remaining, 5-5.
