Congratulations to Winter G from Loreto College who won Campfires Philosothon Film Insight Award tonight in Melbournes CBD, overlooking the beautiful Yarra River and the outrageous flames of the casino! Although many students made reference to some of the films in their Communities of Inquiry, Winter advanced the 3rd philosophical discussion in a novel way after the break and the screening of The Circle (campfire.org.au/film/the-circle). Session 3 explored the oft quoted value of knowing thyself, and Winter asked the question relating to the young man in the film, did he find himself, or was his identity given to him on a platter?, leading to a deeper investigation about the many issues involved. Congratulations Winter, and we welcome Loreto College Ballarat on board as members as part of the prize.
