Congratulations to all the local bands that were competing in the European Championships at Forres on Saturday. Although the Police band was not competing, a number of the band’s players were ‘guesting’ in other bands throughout the grades. And a special mention to Stockbridge winners in Grade 3B, to Towie who did well in Grade 4B and 2622 Squadron who were third in 4A. A stunning victory for Buchan, who secured the second major title of the year, making it two out of two in Grade 2. Long in the making and highly deserved. But the result of the day must go along the A96 to Elgin and District, winners of Grade 4B. Great result with excellent mix of youth and experience hopefully signalling the first of many for the band. Everyone’s looking forward to competing at this popular well organised completion in 2014.
