Congratulations to my wife Evangeline Grossman for her nomination for Attorney of the Year with Brian Kabateck. Van and Brian tried a case that was referred by the Law Offices of Marc Grossman that could have been right out of a John Grisham novel - it was the best bad-faith case Ive ever seen and a truly egregious saga about how Allstate ruined the lives of an elderly couple. After about 7 weeks of trial against Allstate and their jack-ass counsel whose 998 offer was for 250K only, my wife and Brian got a verdict which would have resulted in a judgment for around 10 times that. The jury also found that Allstate should have a punitive damage award assessed against them and was going to reconvene two days after the initial verdict to determine what it would take to send this billion dollar company a message. The case settled with confidentiality terms before the jury could consider the punitive damages thereby saving Allstate from being again cast into the public eye for their despicable policies. Defense counsel was MacGregor & Berthel and mimicked Allstates despicable ethics with their questionable tactics targeting Allstates victims and desperately trying to hide the truth with lies and misdirection - the jury saw right through it. MacGregor taunted Van & Brian that hed never lost at trial and treated them with the utmost disrespect - their website still falsely claims that he has never lost at trial notwithstanding the butt-kicking he just took at trial. MacGregors partner Berthel bragged to my wife after the verdict about how much money she made (for losing) and that she was buying her husband a Porsche with some of the money she made on the trial - could this have something to do with why Allstate lost so badly and chose to go to trial in the first place? Though this was as happy an ending as could be asked for, in my opinion no amount of money can truly compensate Ron Gjerset, now 85 years old and gravely ill, for what Allstate put him and his wife through. Sadly, at every stage up to and including trial, Allstate did not take accountability for their mistakes and instead continued to cause further damage to their long standing loyal customers. It was an incredible experience to witness Van & Brian win justice for the Gjersets and to teach Allstate a lesson.
