Congress News: PARENTS TO GET 3-DAY PAID LEAVE TO ATTEND SCHOOL EVENTS Rep. Evelio R. Leonardia of the Lone District, Bacolod City has filed House Bill 4691, which seeks to provide for a non-cumulative leave with pay for a total of three days a year for parents and guardians employed either with the government or private sector. For the employee who is guardian or parent of a child or ward to avail of the non-cumulative three-day leave with pay to attend the special school events, the bill requires him /her to have rendered at least one year continuous service with his/her employer or with government service. The measure requires the employee availing of the parental leave to give due notice to his/her employer at least one day before the intended date of leave and must attach thereto the notice of the school meeting, program or activity which he/she shall attend. A fine not exceeding P25,000 shall be imposed to any person, corporation, trust, firm, partnership, association or entity found violating this Act or the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder.
